Privacy Policy

Who We Are

Portium is provided by Ratio et Ars LLC ("we", "us"). This policy describes the data the Portium app collects, why, who processes it, and how to remove it. Contact: marty@portium.app.

Data We Collect

• Account details: your email address and name, when you sign in with Google or Apple. You may also use Portium as a guest without either.
• Sign-in identifiers: the Google or Apple account identifier returned by sign-in, and a Portium user ID.
• Meal photos and meal text: the photos you take or choose, and the descriptions you write, plus the nutrition estimates returned for them.
• Steward data: the requests you make of the Steward, and the dietary preferences and coaching notes you declare.
• Weight and water entries you record.
• Nutrition goals: calorie, protein, carbohydrate, fat and fiber targets.
• Device or installation ID: the Firebase installation ID, and the app's user-agent string. We use these to limit free trial entries per installation and to keep the service secure.
• Purchase status: whether you hold an active subscription, and its product and renewal state. We do not receive your card or payment details.
• Crash logs: crash reports and error diagnostics from Firebase Crashlytics. This is always on in the mobile apps.
• Analytics: app usage events from Firebase Analytics. You can turn analytics off in Settings.
• Notification preferences: whether reminders are on and when. Reminders are scheduled on your device.

How We Use It

• To produce nutrition estimates and Steward suggestions.
• To store and display your records across your devices.
• To manage free trial entries and subscriptions.
• To find and fix crashes and errors.
• To understand how the app is used, if analytics is on.
• To protect the service from abuse.

Service Providers

These companies process data on our behalf, only for the purposes listed:

• Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, App Check, Installations): sign-in, storage of your records and photos, server processing, crash reporting, analytics, feature configuration and protection against abuse.
• OpenAI: receives your meal photos and meal text to produce AI nutrition estimates, together with the dietary preferences and coaching notes you have declared. For Steward suggestions it also receives your request, your nutrition goals and the day's totals. OpenAI does not receive your email address or name.
• RevenueCat: receives your email address, name, Portium user ID, sign-in provider, locale and purchase data to manage subscriptions.
• Google Play and Apple App Store: process subscription payments and billing. Their own privacy policies apply to that data.
• Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple: authenticate you when you choose to create an account.

What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not show ads.
• We do not share your data for advertising.

Retention

We keep your records while your account exists. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, meal entries, meal photos, Steward data, weight and water entries, goals and settings, and your sign-in record. Backups may hold deleted data for up to 30 days.

Some data is kept after deletion:

• An installation record (installation ID, the Portium user ID that used it, the user-agent string, and the number of free entries granted). It prevents free entries from being claimed again.
• Purchase records held by RevenueCat, Google Play and Apple, as their own policies and tax law require.
• Crash reports and analytics, under Firebase's retention periods.

Account Deletion

Delete your account in the app under Settings. If you cannot open the app, email us. Full details: Account Deletion.

Your Rights

You may ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing marty@portium.app. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections. Access to your records is limited to your account by server-side rules.

Children

Portium is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us data, email us and we will remove it.

Not a Medical Device

Portium is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Its estimates are approximate.

Changes to This Policy

We may revise this policy. The effective date above shows the latest version.
